History Started in College

Advanced Programming Concepts began as a small software company in 1986, while our CEO was still a college student. It has operated continuously since then as it morphed into ADC above, but was maintained as a separate entity. We still have several long-term clients and contracts.

In its early days, the company completed a wide-variety of projects in industries such as high-tech, healthcare, public safety, entertainment, civic services, small business, spiritual, retail, food service, and more.

Today, APC focuses mostly on website development, using WordPress as its preferred tool of choice to help keep costs low and quality high. We also do a lot of online social media advertising.

Services

Other than websites, APC no longer develops large software systems like those shown below. Our team structure is no longer designed for lengthy, in-depth projects that require ongoing support. Instead, we have moved to more of a consultant and advisory role in helping companies get custom software developed internally or externally. We're great to have on your team as an unbiased and experienced member helping you achieve a better result.

Custom Software Projects

APC worked on many software projects in a variety of fields, developing most of them from the ground up. Below is a list of some of the more interesting projects. As you can see, many of the larger systems were in the healthcare industry:

Healthcare Industry

• Management system for an Eating Disorder and Alcohol Treatment facility;
• Volunteer Time Tracking System for a large bay-area hospital;
• Significant enhancements to the Ask-A-Nurse software system used by healthcare systems when patients call in for medical advice;
• A complex HCFA-485 Editor (used by hospital home health depts) that we developed externally and then merged into the large Compubar system at Adventist Health;
• Nuclear Medicine Data Analysis Program to check CT scanners in hospitals;

Miscellaneous Projects

• Coupon Marketing System for businesses that use and want to track ROI on issued coupons and other advertising.
• Matchmaking system for a dating service and roommate finder.
• Complex water treatment plant software system for the Napa/American Canyon Waste Water Management Authority.
• Collectible Plates Tracking System.
• Parking Permit Tracker for a large campground security department.
• An encryption algorithm that we still think is unbreakable.
• A large data conversion project for AT&T.
• Restaurant Recipe and Ingredient Database used to determine exact cost of each menu item based on pricing of ingredients used to make each menu item.
• StoreVillage.com (no longer active) was developed and maintained entirely from a database we created with affiliate marketing systems that ranked in the top 5 Google positions in every single category in our online shopping mall...for over two years! The system brought in an average of $500/month in passive affiliate revenue and only fell out of ranking when Google made their first major change to their ranking algorithm. The system programmatically rebuilt the website when changes occurred.
• Created a website awards system that allowed judges to give awards to quality websites. The system programmatically controlled Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer to automate most of the process.

Software Sold Commercially

We've worked on numerous custom software projects over the last 3 decades but here is a list of software the we developed ourselves and sold to the public:

• Dove Evangelistic Tracking System ™ (very successful). The Dove system sold nationwide and for several years was the leading system used by evangelists and churches to track large events consisting of multiple meetings.
• Bible Topic Management ™ (for pastors and Bible instructors),
• Corporate Mailing List (large mailing list database manager...very cool in its day),
• Below the Pelico ™, our very first commercially-sold computer game.
